Un-Confidential Survey

I just thought I'd vent here. I filled out the Customer Satisfaction Survey about a week ago and mailed it in. Today I get a call at work from my salesman bitching to me about the low scores I gave him. What the ****! I thought this was supposed to be confidential. I know it happened to someone else on this board too. I can't believe that this guy had the ***** to call me at work and bitch. He said he wanted me to bring the survey to him and not send it in. Why? So he could approve of my responses. That's BS. The dealership sucked and he did not have much knowledge about the Protege's in general. I'm writing to Mazda.

Damn right call mazda. I would complain about the confidentiality and really bitch about being called at work by the dealership employee. I would even go to the dealership, talk to the manager. Tell him if he thinks a low score on the survey is bad, wait till you inform the local protege and mazda enthusiasts about his salesmen calling you at work. Common stat is that an one unhappy customer will cost you 10 new customers.
(try to milk some free stuff.)
Stocker.

No where on the survey does it say they are confidential. They are used to give salesmen rankings etc. It's crazy, but in the eyes of Mazda and the dealership, if the salesman gets anything lower than a 10 on the survey it's looked at as a failure. He gets big time reamed for it too.

If you guys want to read more about the surveys, there was a great thread over on the Miataforum with several salesmen chiming in.

OK maybe it's not confidential. I couldn't recall if there was anything to that effect or not on it. There is still no excuse for him to call me at work and bitch about my opinion of the service. I was not satisfied with the overall experience and I answered honestly. So he gets reamed. I will suggest that Mazda find some other way to rate the salesmen. Also, there is no need for him to know exactly which sale he was cirticized on. He has all my personal info to use any way he wants if he really feels like expressing his anger. His calling me at work is an example of that. It's just unprofessional.

I don't care if they want to tell him what score I gave him, my definition of confidetiallity is protecting my personal information. Like calling me at work. Even if the guy was good, he can mail me a letter like mazda does. If he/she was lousy, then I really don't want to talk to them. I gave my dealership and salesmen a mediocre score because that is what they were. When I asked about the P5 he pointed at the car and said "the specs are on the window". Trading in my old car was a horrific experience, and they tried to charge me 50bux for the first tank of gas. I actually wrote a letter to the owner of the dealership to let him know how disgusted I was with the service. He called me and tried to get me to fill in the soon to arrive mazda survey with all 10's too. To his credit he didn't try to bribe me. But still they certainly didn't deserve a good rating. I now do all my business with a different mazda dealer. The thing that still bothers me is, when I go to the Honda dealership to take my brothers prelude in there, I leave everytime thinking, "why can't my dealership be like that" It is getting to the point where I am gonna buy a bunch of mazda filters and start taking my P5 to honda for oil changes and service.

Stocker.

Very interesting read. I agree with the one poster on there who said that the "sales" department extends to the finance and service areas.

For example, if you go to a restaraunt (dealership) and your server (salesman) is bad, his tip (survey) is not going to be that good. If the server is good, but let's say the food was bad (service dept.) and they wouldn't fix it or they had problems accepting your payment (finance), then the servers tip is going to reflect that also. As your server, they should be responsible in making sure that you are comfortable and well taken care of through your entire dining (purchasing) experience. IF you have a great dining experience, your tip will reflect that (All 10's).

I just got my survey in the mail today, I have yet to decide how to fill it out. Salesman good, Finance and Managers not so good. I guess I have much worse experiences though.

I'm really dissappointed to hear of all these people with poor buying experience. I tried to buy a 2001 ES from BIll Jacobs Mazda in Joliet, IL. Ist, they tried to tell me they needed a check for $200 just to show that I was "serious" about buying the car. After I told them to F*CK OFF, they tried to screw me on my trade, then gave me their 'final offer' of $450/mo for 60 mos. So, of course, I left. I finally came across Anderson Mazda in Machesney Park, IL. This is the 5th car I've purchased through a dealership, and the experience was the ABSOLUTE BEST I've ever had. I got the more expensive Protege5 (with warranty) for $350/mo for 72mos. But beyond that, I really felt like they cared and tried their absolute best.

If you're about to drop tens of thousans of dollars, you deserve to have you *** kissed... there's no excuse for any dealership to deliver anything but the best possible service.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but isn't your first tank of gas complimentary? Doesn't it even say so on the window sticker??

I don't know. If it were from the local dealer, I think it wouldn't take this long to get to you. Also, they would give it to you right there and "help" you fill it out before you leave.

Mine came in an envelope with Mazda Customer Care center return address. Was sent back to Mazda (not the dealer) in a prepaid "business reply mail" envelope.

I believe it is fine for the dealer and salesman to see the review, however I think it's absolutely disgracefull for them to call you at work, home or anywhere and confront you about it. I think that's more a salesman to salesman morals issue than anything Mazda can control unfortunately.

HubbMP5,

How much is your interest? If you're paying $350/mo for 72 mo, that comes out to over $25,000 at the end of the term. After interest and everything, I would have paid much less than $20,000 after 4 years for my P5. Just wondering.
