Intermittent Wipers Installed!

I love this mod!!! It makes driving in the rain so much more enjoyable. Definately worth the $35 and it was way easy to do too. I still don't understand why ours cars didn't just come with that little feature ... it's not that much to ask for. If any of you are intersted, I suggest going to car-part.com and searching for a 03 Mazda Van column switch. I got mine for $35 shipped off of a 03 Tribute, although the junk yard claimed it was a different part. MPV or Tribute both work I guess ...

I got the Euro variable stalk for my sedan (and then had to get one for my gf when she got her '99) and I agree, it is a great feature to have. Makes you thankful for parts-bin engineering!

Where did you get it for $35?

Are you talking about intermittent or variable intermittent?
Mine aren't variable & I'd love to add it.

Krayzie apparently got his from searching on www.car-part.com, which is a junkyard site that links a bunch of yards. It's a great site, I did a search and came up with a glass moonroof for my '81 Rx-7 2 miles from my house (clowns had sold it and not updated their info, morons!). Anyway, for you lucky stiffs who own a P5, the MPV came with a variable intermittent wiper stalk for front and rear that will fit your cars. I have a 2001 MPV LX and it has this stalk, should be the same as the '03 van. The rear wiper intermittent feature is a fixed interval, while the front is variable. It does help save your rear wiper from wearing out.

For us sedan owners, you have to go to Corksport to get one. It is a part off a Euro Mazda (626 I think), they are going for $72 right now. Easy install, takes less than 15 minutes depending upon how dexterous you are in getting the steering column plastic off.

If you search on car-part.com for a column switch on a 03 Mazda MPV or Tribute, I think it's classified as Mazda Van on the site you'll get the right one. I managed to get one for $30 and shipping was only $5. Also, if you search for a 03 Ford Escape that should also work out for ya. My dad has a 03 Escape and only after buying the wiper switch did I notice that it looks exactly the same. Don't quote me on it at this point but I do believe it's the same. I'll go home and check it out tonight.

EDIT: Here's the links for you guys
http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi (Mazda MPV/Tribute)
http://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi (Ford Escape)

It seems the Escape ones are alot cheaper, you can get them as low as $25! Enjoy!!!

EDIT#2: Ok, it seems those links don't work. I'm sure you all can figure it out though ...
