Is this intake sheist?

Hey, I found this intake on Ebay motors, I'm just kinda getting into the car thing, and I wanted to know if this sucked, or was worth $70:

Tell me what you think. Also, I am looking for a short throw shifter, and I was wondering what the best price I could find one for was, and where.

The only thing you would need to worry about is the fit and the quality of the filter element.

The 5-10 horsepower gain claim is probably bullshit, as we all know, but it doesn't look bad.

I'm still waiting on word for Vibrant intakes - but even those will be a bit more expensive than that one (but well cheaper than AEM or Injen).

I don't live in Cali - but I wonder about the "$3 pick-up fee"??? Shipping + insurance is $14, but if you want to pick it up, they only knock off $9?? Can you say "we're making money on the shipping, too"???

Still a nice price tho.

Bidding now

I am the current winning bidder on the one that is going to be done today. I talked to the people selling it, and they said they coppied the stock mazdaspeed intake when making theirs. They said the size of the pipe is identical, and the filter is a K&N filter. So, it sounded good to me. I'll let you guys know what's up when it gets here.

I've got one of these intakes. It works fine. If you want to see what it looks like go here: about:blankhttp://www.geocities.com/traveler12820/robsprotege.html

Does anyone make a CAI out of plastic? Afterall, doesn't metal hold heat?

Mainly the reason that an aftermarket CAI is made of metal is cost. With limited production runs it doesn't make sense to go through the ordeal of making molds for plastic as these are way more expensive than just bending metal. Plus metals conduct heat, they don't retain it, so while they heat up very fast they also lose the heat just as fast. Plastic on the other hand is not a good conductor. It will eventually heat up and stay hot for a long time afterward. So the air going through a CAI should keep it relatively cool compared to the engine bay but a plastic system would probably get much warmer.

Hmmm.... that looks strangely identical to a Ractive intake system.

Look at the following ractive pics from my site....

Ractive Pic 1
Ractive Pic 2

Dunno theirs is ractive or not, just be careful.

Yah everything is the same except the Ractive sticker is replaced with another. It's a Ractive cone filter not KN as they listed.

Yeah, I meant to say Ractive, not K&N.....brain fart. It is exactly the same. They did an exact coppy for half the price.

Nah, wouldn't say 1/2 the price... here in canada it's only $110 for the "real" ractive intake system (which works out to $68.91 USD).
