Insurance Rate for Mazda Protege5

As you guys know, I was trying to decide between a Mazda Protege5 and a Civic LX.

I want to know how the insurance rate is for Protege5. Is it the same as a sporty car? Or is it considered more of a family car? I have no idea how these things go, but my insurance is under Farmer's Insurance. Any information would help.

How much do you pay for insurance and how long have u been driving with what kind of record?

Many insurance companies aren't quite caught up yet--mine (State Farm) insure it as an ES. I expect that'll change when the next review comes up.

I have a clean driving record (yay) and insurance on both the cars (both Pros, but only one is a P5) runs me $140/month. My experience with insurance, however, is that it varies so much by region, driver, and company that you shouldn't expect anyone else's actual numbers to be all that predictive.

.

I'm paying $415 every 6 months with State Farm on my P5 in south Florida. I'm also over 25 and married. I would suggest sticking with a reputable company too. You may find a good rate but look at the coverage you get for it. I was able to find insurance for $10 less through Progressive but my coverage would have gone from 100,000/300,000/100,000 down to 10,000/15,000/10,000. That's a big decrease in coverage. Hardly enough to pay for damage to a single car these days. I've had to make a single claim for my wife and my rates didn't increase either.

Tell your friend to be careful, if the insurance company finds out that the car doesn't have the equipment they can refuse to pay claims....

I'm married, age 30 (wife is 28) and we have our home insurance though the same company. Just the one car, clean driving records, low deductables, high coverages, $580 per year.
