installing moonroof deflector

installing moonroof deflector
Ok, I bought a mon roof deflector for my P5. I tried to check fit it first, but found a problem.
The steel clips appear to be way too short. (Those of you that have them may know what I mean.)
I put the screws into the deflector, hung the clips on, but the clips will not reach the lip of the moonroof opening unless the nuts are hanging on by one thread. This leaves like a 0.5" gap from the top of the nut to the bottom of the clip. I can not believe that the deflector will bend a half an inch while I seat these nuts.
If anyone know what I am talking about and can shed some light, let me know if I am just paranoid about hurting my car/deflector.

ya i had the same problem....what you have to do is ones you get the bolt one with one thread...get some vice grips to hold down the bolt and a philips screw driver and keep tighting it, then do this for the other side...if i have time later tonight i'll post a pic of how its supost to look......

thats how its supposed to be... u have to push down on the deflector, thread the bolt and tighten it down till the deflector is snug and wont slide around. Its like that so the rubber trim forms a good seal with the roof so it doesnt whistle at speed.

Yep, you have to force the moonroof down a little. Most importantly,don'tover-tighten the screw/nut! It's made of plastic, so it will break if you over-tighten. As long as it's snug and doesn't seem to have a gap between the rubber area of the deflector and the car's roof, it's tight enuff.
