Question Injen cai and wet

Everywhere I've read, the Injen CAI is the best performing, best fit and finish, yada-yada-yada. I live in southern New England. Last winter had a lot of snow and its been very wet (not typical) during the summer.

SO

How protected is the filter in the wheel well- I would get the splash guard.

Has anyone actually driven with one for a year or more in wet climate with no problems?

I don't feel like blowing the engine in this lifetime.

And what about that hole leading to the wheel well? It looks like Mazda had this modification in mind.

fks

2003.5 P5, Mica black with leather and all the goodies. Just got my Eibachs and will be installing them shortly. An already fine handling car gets even better.

I have had my Injen for a little over a year, and I'm in Cleveland. It's probably just about the same climate as what you're used to. I have not had any problems.

I find that the intake is well protected in the fender there, and actually most of the crud that builds up on the filter is on the top side of it, so I think most of the dirt is falling down from the underhood area through that hole you're talking about. The splash guard is probably not needed.

However, if you want one, I'll sell you mine! I bought one, thinking it would be a good idea, but I decided I didn't need it, and I never installed it.

Let me know.
