i'm gonna get a P5!(hopefully)

Hello! So a few days ago I was THIS close to buying a new Protege5, but after signing all thee papers, the salesperson informs us that we were signing for a car with 1400 miles on it. So i got mad and left, and they called back today telling me that I could buy any car on the lot at invoice.
Maybe it's because it's my first car, so they want me to come theere for my other car purchases.
Anyway, I'm not going back there....

So again I'm looking for an automatic silver Protege5. I really want the moonroof, but I can't find one with the moonroof and without the cd changer and security system. I am looking at a silver one with all thatt extra stuff, everything except leather, the special mirror, and ABS and the side airbags. This last option is somewhat important to me since I'm a new driver and living in Chicago. But the car I drive now(my moms minivan) doesn't have ABS( i think), so it can't be too much of a big deal. It's a refreshed model too. Anyway the dealer emailed me with a price of "17,866 this does included freight, destination, and all current incentives." So that's 750 lower, because I'll be going with the 2.9 financing. I think according to Edmunds thats right around invoice.

Um I'm sorry about the long post. Anyway my point is what do you think about me gettting a car without the abs and sideairbags, and what do you think about the price. The other Protege5 demo was being sold to me for 300 under invoice because it was a demo. But that wasn't enough for me, plus I was really angry. Thanks for reading my last post, I can't wait tog et the car and talk about it with you guys!

Moonroofs are great! I loved having mine on my civic, and used it regularly. If any of you that have a sunroof decide to lower your car on a really stiff suspension let me know, I will explain why thats a BAD idea. I would rather not get into it here

YEAH! :P

hehehe
the car looks a lot nicer with the sunroof though
i've always wanted a sunroof
so i'm getting one! :P
i doubt i'll eveen use it much
but still
i test drove a p5 with a sunroof
and one without
and the one with looks a lot nicer inside and out
and i'm sure i won't be lowering the car
so it doesn't matter

what i'm realllllllllllllllllllllllllllly concerned about is that abs option though

I have never owned a car with ABS, but I have heard that unless your packed with snow or rain all the time its really not necessary. It also depends how you drive, if you like to race a lot and need to stop quicker, ABS is for you. If not, then don't worry about it.

Hey I am looking at a silver protege too. An ES 5speed though. I don't know about the protege5 but there is a $1500 incentive on the ES I am looking at. Your price seems kinda high even without the rebate.(I might be wrong because I have no idea how much more a p5 is) The ES I am looking at has abs, side airbags, moonroof, cd changer, security system, and wheel locks and the invoice price is $16,600 and they said I could get it for $15,500. I thought the p5 was similar to the es sedan but again I could be wrong.

I can't wait to get this car. All I have to do is get rid of the truck I drive now.

cool

hehe this place is awesome
by the way if you live in the chicago area i highly reccommend not going to the Evanston Mazda dealer.

oooh and by the way
can anyone go to mazdausa.com and try to check the inventories
it won't work for me, says every dealer doesn't have the car, even though i know some do

Actually Travis, ABS is always disabled if you race. Because the fastest way to stop on the track is four wheel lock. ABS actually takes longer to stop the car. The advantage is that the car won't go sideways when you tap the brakes on icy or wet surfaces and you can still steer while hammering the brakes.
Up here all cars are sold with ABS, it will take a while to get use to but it will save you from an accident.

There is a good explanation thanks for clearing that up.

hmmm

it's a very hard decision
just get the one on the lot without the abs
or have to order one to be built or be shipped from aNother dealer and waiittttttttttttttt
i don't want to wait!
i think i'll go with the car on the lot
i still got all of today to think it over
hopefully i won't regret it later on
*thinks*

Hi Kad

Welcome to the board.

I have my P5 for 2 1/2 months now and I love it. As sjdmp5 said all of the P5s in Canada come with ABS, you have no choice. However, considering the weather conditions here I like it but you have to know how to use it.

As for the moonroof, that sure makes a difference. What is really nice is that it retracts between the roof liner and the roof and does not stick up out over the roof like some of the other cars. Also, you have two opening options, which makes a difference when it rains.

Cheers
Chris

I love the moonroof. I come from the land of 8 months winter and I still use it all the time. It makes the car feel and jillion times bigger on the inside. I sit in other cars now and it feels so dark and constricted, no natural sunlight, no outdoorsy smell or sounds, no nothing. I crack that thing open in -20°C weather just to get a nice clean breeze. And it also is great in the summer when you want a breeze thru the car but don't want the wind blowing straight thru and making stuff fly out of your car.

I just realized I have my head up my ***.
