Gen3 Turbo 1.6L

Hay all you GEN3 1.6ers I've just completed an install of a Garrett
T25 turbo with intercooler on my 1.6L. Go here and get all the info:
http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...&threadid=8208
or check out my web site for pics: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291978349 or you can go to the guy who fabricated my
manifold/header/piping site and see pics in the projects tab:
www.wagnermotorsports.net.
NOTE this is not a kit we are offering but Andrew at Wagner
Motorsports can make you a manifold on a one by one basis contact him
via his web site ( www.wagnermotorsports.net) for more info if you
need any help on engineering the system I can give you tons of advice
on what I've learned from my experience. The turbo install is the
easy part getting the ECU to accept the boost with out dreaded fuel
cut is huge battle you'll have to fight.
Dave

Yep, I own a Civic. What brings me to the Mazda forum? Well, lets see, its a variation of reasons really. First, I spend entirely too much time online. Second, I was very close to buying an MP5, and I was doing some research into its potential (yes, my Honda got me hooked on tinkering with cars). Third, I have really developed a love for automotive performance, and I suppose it was only a matter of time before I wandered away from the Honda circle to broaden my horizons, so-to-speak. Lastly, I got such a great response and a warm welcome on my very first post here that I decided to hang around!

**Also, another reason, I have been slowly planning a business of my own selling performance parts, etc. Seeing how limited the Protege aftermarket is right now also has me thinking of ways to not only tap into that market (for my own selfish reasons of course $$$), but also perhaps expand it and bring more options to my fellow enthusiasts. After all, why should Honda guys get all the toys!?

i agree

...and as you can probably tell from this thread the 1.6ers are the most neglected in terms of aftermarket gear..could be a market niche perhaps

perhaps, I can relate somewhat, the SOHC 1.6 engines in Civics are relatively neglected as well, of course it still has quite an abundant selection....er, I guess I really can't say I can relate.

It just seems like Mazda is just now starting to push for some aftermarket support, so perhaps it will start with the 2.0s and trickle down to you guys eventually.

Haven't done any mods, but I am getting a new MP3 player to replace the current 10 CD changer. It's somewhere between Jacksonville and Miami at the time... acording the the UPS website.

Did you have it shipped to El Salvador or do you have a relative in the US? I live in Venezuela and I would never order anything through our postal service (if there is such a thing).

I'm on vacation at miami right now so I was able to buy my HU here, I got it yesterday and I'm dying to go back to my country to finally install my sound sys.

I would call my 1.6l 'accelerator challenged'...

But I've pushed it to 95 mph with no problems.

It takes someone special to adore the angry bee sound the engine produces at that speed.

clap! clap!

i'm tellin you.. maybe it's just your guy' 1.6's. i've taken mine to 120 mph, without issue. it's stable, and wanted to go farther than that. it'll hit 110 in fourth gear on flat road, without a problem.
