How much to paint the hood

I was wondering if any of you guys knew about how much it would cost to get the hood on a P5 repainted. when i got my car from mazda, there was a bubble in the paint on the hood. i took it back to the dealer, and they said that they would have it repainted for me. Thing is they dont have a place to have it painted, so they are going to have to pay one of the other car dealers paint shops to paint my hood for them. I was thinking that if the price difference wasnt going to be too much, i might try to convince them to let me pay the difference and pick up a carbon fiber hood for my car. Not really sure how much the carbon fibers go for either. ive seen on protege5online that he is going to try and get them for around $620, but i hope i might be able to find one cheaper.

Depends on where you go, and whether or not you care about quality.

When I took in my old Cavalier (yeah..ugh!) in to get the hood repainted, it cost me close to $500 CDN. This was from a reputable body shop, and they did it all the right way...sanding, primer, everything.

Whatever you do, don't go to Maaco! I've heard horror stories of them.

Unhappy Repaint

I got three quotes last week to repaint the hood on my 2002 P5. It varied from $200.00, $350.00, $510.00 they said it would be more if they needed to blend the fenders to match. Just remember the aftermarket paint job will not stand up like the factory paint job. Hope this helps

well, im not getting the hood repainted. mazda is getting it done, probably by another car company's shop. I bought my car from a dealer in winston salem, Bob King Mazda. The only people i know of other than crappy shops around town is another chain of car companies called Modern who mostly deals in toyota's, and chevy's. im hoping that its going to cost them around 500 or so to get it done. Im going to refuse anything over than a comlete repaint if they do repaint it. none of this painting over the paint that is there crap. ive had friends with macco jobs that did that, and the paint just came off after a while. I would gladly throw in up to $300 on the carbon fiber hood if the would pay the rest. but im hoping i can get out for around 200 or less.
