How to change the oil on the 2003 protege
Instead of lifting the car, I always use ramps. Those seem a little more stable, and they're a bit quicker than using jack stands. They're a good investment if you're planning to do your own oil changes.
If you want to use a jack and jack stands, you can use the spare tire jack included with the vehicle to lift the car. Jack up one side, put a jack stand under it, then lower the car and do the other side.
The jack stands can go right in front of or behind the spare tire jack. Just lower the car slowly to make sure nothing is getting bent as the weight of the car settles on the jack stand.
Whether you're using ramps or stands, remember to make sure the car is solidly in place before you crawl under it!
