Hey Help a brother out

tehehehe

okay so i finally got off my lazy lankan *** and decided its time i put in the CAI i got sitting in m garage (mind u think is not one of them off the shelf ones... i bought all the parts myself and put things together... but in the end all i want is the same result)

First thing is first... i took the big ugly resonator thing out.. (thats what it is ye? the big black box in the front)...

and found a 2.5inch pipe that connects to the stock air box

anyway... i begin to install it and came to my very first problem... in my car... 99 protege 1.6L... the AFM is part of the stock air box... WTF??? now how do u overcome this problem???

i thought maybe just take the filter out of the box and seal it up good... but it will make the airflow restrictive hu??

anyway thats where i got stuck.... and its all back to stock mode now LOL....

i also though u guys can gimme ur opinion on which POD to use hehe.. i got a KnN dry type Cone filter for my bday.. but i think its freakin wayy too big...

(REFER TO PIC 2)

I also found a HKS Mushroom style filter @ autobarn yesterday for $20.. needless to say i bought it LOL... (its not actually a HKS one but Autotechnica one)....

(REFER to PIC 2)

now in the pics the pipe is mounted like that just to show u the PODs LOL i will not be putting the thing in like that...

but rather feed it through the 3inch hole on the left hand side... so the filter is sitting in the front bumper on the left.....

oh yeh one more question HAHA sorry guys.. thought i just do it all in one go!!

the radiator overflow bottle... it will be a big pain in the *** if i dont move it... where do i relocate it to?? anyone got a pic for me 2 see so i can refer to it??

any help would be much appriciated as always...

thank you!

over and out haha

few things..

first that hose you want to use for your piping will hurt performance more than anything. The ripples on the inside will create more turbulance in the intake which is what you're trying to avoid.

filters are fine, either one.

about the MAF, you'll either need to cut the stock airbox and make some sort of an adapter for it or suck it up and buy one of the ebay intakes. They have a flange built onto one of the pipes that the hotwire will actually sit down in. see the two gold screws next to the plug? If you take those out the MAF sensor comes out the top, then you'd put it in the new pipe and screw it back done. viola.
