Gutted Cat.

Well my friend blew his P5 engine and was going to have it replaced with a rebuilt one for 2500.00. I found him another engine for 800 used with only 50k and a 90 day warrenty on it. So in return he gave me the pre cat that came with it. I just put the MP3 ECU in about 2 weeks ago. I noticed that with the ecu in it I don't get the power surge that comes between 3500-5500. It pulls hard like that from the get go now. I gutted the cat and put it on today and I don't think it pulled as good as it did with the other cat. I can't tell 100% but it just feels alittle lighter. Any ways I'm headed to the track on the 2nd to finally see how it does. I've been wondering for a while but didn't want to go until I got some things done to it. I'm looking for mid 15s and hoping for high 14s. I know 14s are gona be a stretch. This will be the first time at a track in a fwd car for me so I don't really know what to expect. I know I did pretty good in the Z28 I had. Twilight (I think thats how he spells it) supposibly runs 15.2 something in the 1/4 in a N/A P5 and we are really close to the same mods. But he has some head work and cams on his. But from the HP numbers and what I've read I don't think that it realy gave him much of a gain. So I shouldn't be that far off of his numbers.

The only thing that I'm wondering about is the speeds that alot of you are saying yaw get in your cars that I don't in mine. Like the top end speed. I had mine to 110 and I've heard some say 110-140. Although I had shut it down at 110. Then there is the speeds between gears. I only get 25-26 mph in 1st and that is running to 6-65k and around 55 in 2nd. I thought all these cars were the same as far as engines and gears go. So that puzzles me. I know my speedo is right all the wat to 75 because of the construction radars. So Well see. Whats yaws thoughts?

Not yet, but as soon as I do I'll let you know. It normally takes a few days. But he may be blowing me off, I don't know.

gutted cat wont do much down low but it should help your top end a good bit. What I've been most impressed with are the cams from SRMotorsports. Thgey really make my top end punch now. I've got the obx header and stock exhaust from there back....a stock intake right now and it's a big difference in top end pull. It used to have flat spots but now it just tugs all the way to redline (and beyond)/
