Gutted Cat - Loss Of Power?

Sup guys, I have a 1.5l pro and I also have a cat that is gutted. I was wondering am I actually losing power? With many people and their theories. Some say with a gutted cat you lose backpressure so you lose power. Others say with a gutted cat its only straight piping which is the best. Can someone help me clarify this theory? Thanks alot

Well, if I need no backpressure, i'd wonder whats the use of a high-flow cat? So unless i need some backpressure, I probably wouldn't even look at a high-flow cat.

Yeah Bruce, leave the CAT there.

As an environmental engineer I tell you that 2 horsepower gains are not worth the increase in air pollution...

please man, try everything but PLEASE, dont be stupid regarding environmental issues.

If you dont have a strong background on air emissions and environmental issues in general, just dont say anything. gosh...

Is it really worth the hassle to have to take out your gutted cat and put the real one back on to get an E test for the minimal gains that you'll get??

I'mm tellin ya, one gutted 8 year old cat is NOT going to make a diff. go tell those semi- truck drivers to use cats, they are the oens billowing black smoke whenever they accel....

I hate the fact that the world is going to shitbut i know for a fact that whether I choose to use a cat or not will make NOT ONE bit of difference whatsoever...

BTW, we don't have any emissions checks here at all.. If I were to gut it it woudn't be for HP alone, it'll help my straight pipe sound better

greenhouse effect is ONLY a small fraction of the potential consequences of air pollution.
I should be an example here to try explain this issue for everybody since I am becoming a professor in this field very soon. There is no time and room in this chat to explain my points and change your mind regarding to how you feel about point sources releases. Just to keep in mind that the world "environment" is very broad, notwithstanding it could be applied to your livingroom. Again, please, read more about this subject and avoid being a fool.

peace,

... for the globe? One cat missing? no problem and you are right. Unfortunately, things happen in a chain, right? Get one dollar from a person is nothing... but get together one dollar collected from a million people....

...just be carefull when working in your garage if you decide to do it. without cat is already dangerous, without it makes even worse.
Keep windows and/or door always open when idling and pay attention to pets.
