Grumbling noise from dash

Hi all,

Does anyone have a grumbling noise coming from the dash, more specifically near the steerning column? I hear it about a couple of times a week, sounds like indigestion. ??

Does it happen on hard right turns when it's cold? Mine has done that but only when I turn at a sharp angle and only if the car has been running for less than 5 minutes.

Mine will do that also in the mornings when I leave for work if I make a hard turn. But once the car is warmed up some it doesnt do it anymore.

It does it on and off, regardless of the direction I'm driving in. I haven't been able to pinpoint any specific trigger.

Thanks for your input, guys. I will keep an eye out to see if it's cold-related.

I think I have this problem. It is a rattling noise from the dash, yes? Well, I've isolated it to the panel that contains the temperature/fan speed controls. If you push the panel that houses these controls, the noise stops, if you push the controls themselves, the noise stops. I wonder if there is an easy fix?

i've got dash rattles out the ying-yang. it's worse in the cold. if the car gets a good long time to warm up and the plastic expands, it stops.

I had the same noise a while back. I would push the instrument panel screen and the noise would subside. Anyway, I took out the entire instrument panel (unplug the battery if you do that), and I noticed that it was not glued together properly. So all I did was tape it with electric tape and voila the noise is no more.

I've isolated my noise to the instument panel screen as well. I plan on taking a look into fixing it when I am not feeling so lazy. Heh heh.

Are you talking about the dash panel (where temperature control and such are located)? If so, can you describe what you taped a bit more? I'd love to get rid of this noise. Is it hard to remove the instrument panel?

Yes I'm talking about the dash panel. On mine, when the noise would get loud I would press on the glass (plastic see thru cover) and I would notice that the noise would stop. I therefore figured that the plastic screen was not glued on to the rest of the panel properly. So I took some electric tape...

Now I don't know if this is the same problem as in your car, but you might want to try gently tapping the screen and see if it sounds loose.

Let me know if I can help you some more, or if you need more clarifications.

I'm confused. It sounds like you are talking about the plastic that covers the guage cluster behind the steering wheel. I'm talking about the heater and ac control area under the radio. I don't have anything clear down there .

My mistake. I'm talking about the instrument panel behind the steering wheel. Sorry for any confusion

I double-checked the rattle when it came out again and it seems to be coming from inside the steering wheel column... really strange. Like a grumbling noise, almost like indigestion. I pressed on the gauge cover and it didn't stop. Hmmm.

Anyone else have this?
