Good cars?

Good cars?
Hey, I'm looking to buy a new car and the P5 is one that I'm looking at. I'm curious if it is as reliable as the 2 other Mazda's that I've owned but now I've got a child and I was curious if there is enough room for a carseat to fit in the back seat without the front seat having to be moved up. It is hard to tell from the pictures so I was curious, is there much room in the back of the wagon? I don't need a ton of room but I need enough...is a trunk bigger than the room back there? Thanks.
Jeff
Also, is there any common problems with them that I could use as bartering power at the dealership?

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.
Welcome!!
YEP there is plenty of room for the kiddo seat...and there is LOTS of room behind that hatch....
as for reliability? yes...it is. you will love the P5...don't hesitate.

I have a P5, and I use it to cart my nephew around in every now and then. There is ample room for a car seat. With the car being a hatchback, I find it a pain to have to install and remove the car seat all the time, because the latch that the seat clips into, is on the floor in the trunk. I would not have any problems, if I knew I could keep the car seat in my car at all times, however.
My only question, is I've noticed that there are only 2 visible latches in the trunk, one on each side. Does this mean that I cannot install a toddler seat in the middle? Or is there a latch in the middle, in the back, that I have been to lazy to locate? I know I can install a rear-facing car seat in the middle, but I'd prefer to have the forward facing seat in the middle as well... if at all possible.
Thanks, and hope my info helps...

I have taken many day ski trips this winter with 4 and even five people in my P5, including skies on the roof and stuff in the trunk. I had to remove the rear deck to fit all the stuff though. We are not talking small people either. No one complained on the couple hour trips to the ski areas and the gas milage was not bad either (25-29 MPG), with a full load. The sadan has a longer trunk but not the same height so they are probably about equal in volume.

Greetings!
I am a new Protege5 driver and I enjoy the ride so much I've left my other car (a 2000 neon) stored in the garage.
As for the P5 playing the "mini-van" role, just a few things to be aware of.
My daughter is now 2 and has had the car seat in the forward facing position for some time now. My wife an I are both sterotypically short asians so the front seats are not that far back. In the reclined carseat position, My daughter is able to kick the back of the front seat. Also, If you have one of those large carseats, fitting 2 more passengers in the back can be a challenge unless they are small children.
I also thought purchasing a wagon would be great for its cargo capacity. Let me just say that we have one of those canopied strollers and when it's folded in the trunk, there isn't much room for the groceries when the trunk cover is on.
I love the car, but it's no MPV. I suggest that you take your carseat and stroller and anything else you could think of to your test drive and determine if the car meets your own requirements.
Good Luck!

I'm about 5'10'' and i've carried around a couple of 6'2'' guys and another 5'10'' guy in my car and it was fine. The back seat is way bigger than a jetta. You can go to the dealership and do what i did....get in one of the front seats and adjust the seat to the way you like it, then get in the seat behind it and see how muhc leg room there is. When i did that, i found that i still had enough leg room that i didnt have to spread my legs or anything...but then again me and my friends are all pretty athletic and flexible teengaers :P
