Gear Oil

Does anyone know the gear oil capacity of a 2001 Protege (2.0)?

No, I wouldn't have posted this question if it was already there. Gimme a little more credit than that man.

Yeah I'm sure. My manual lists engine oil, coolant, transaxle oil, and the fuel tank capacity.

I've read somewhere on this forum that 3 quarts will do. I haven't verified that with my manual yet.

Uuum, the gear oil would be the transaxle oil.

Which brings up the question why can't Mazda use whole numbers? Not exactly like I can go buy 2.9 quarts of transmission fluid. Same thing with oil. Eh. Just venting.

That's because you'll buy 3 quarts and spill some on the ground (like I did)
So they actually take care of sloppy do-it yourselfers
