Full floating shifter

As I get over one problem another pops up. Stopped at a red light last night with the windows down and heard this ungodly racket coming from under the car. NWTF is going on. First thought was the Dealer did something wrong and the engine was coming apart. Then the light turned green and I threw her into first and let the clutch out.....POP!! The shifter smacked my hand and I thought, "That was kinda weird" , so I pulled into a parking lot and noticed alot of unusual play in the shifter, then I moved it up and down about 2 inches and thought great My shifter has fallen out and is now lying on top of the heat shield or exhaust . It still shifts fine except for the up and down movement so I am thinking the shifter mounting bolts fell out. I am going to see if the extended warranty will cover this or if it can be fixed at home. Anybody else have this problem??

!! UPDATE !! Full floating shifter

It's been awhile but here is the update. It seems that the rubber doughnut that holds the shifter in place seperated due to fatigue. BL3K-46-100 is the correct part number from Mazda and it is not cheap : $219.51 + $73.99 labor = 293.50 luckily my warranty covered it. It seems that the Mazda MX-3 also suffers from this problem and on MX-3.com they sell a bracket that keeps the shifter from falling out if this seperation occurs. Thinking about buying and seeing if I can adapt it to the Pro5. Well thats it for now, I hope.

WTF? You mean the rubber bushing? I hope not. You can get the Kartboy bushing for 25.00
and it takes 10 minutes to replace.

sounds to me like they charge for the whole assembly. There is no way that the plastic donuts cost that much.

off topic, what part of Deleware are you in? I am from Wilmington, lived down here most my life though, all but my immediate family live up there still, Mostly Dover and Wilmington.

I live in Bear. I used to live in Wilmington, down the street from what was once Wilmington high school.

Yes it is the rubber doughnut that attaches to the housing that gets bolted to the floorpan. The only way to fix it is to buy the complete assembly.
