Yeah I am doing the same thing trying to find an exhaust system without getting held over the coals to do it, so many companys barely support our cars, arrgh makes it tough. I did find this on magnaflow.com
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=Sport&id=227

Not even a chance in finding a Borla one. Maybe someone here knows if I take this to Meineke will I need anything else or is this pretty much a complete kit? It is the same one that is used on the Wings West Protege. Thanks in advance for any help !!

BTW - HKS no luck in finding anything
- Same thing with Greddy if you can believe that there was one for the MP5 but im not sure if that will work on the MP3's

The Magnaflow is complete from the Cat-Back.
Borla does not make a Protege cat-back to my knowledge. although they did make some of the Mazdaspeed axle-backs.
HKS and Greddy do NOT make an exhaust for the sedan.

Check this thread for another alternative:

Flowmaster 60 Series

Originally, I was going to get a Borla Boomer exhaust for my Protege, but then I found out Flowmaster makes a muffler for sport compacts called the 60 Series. It's got a lower rumble to it than most exhaust setups for compact cars, and doesn't sound so much like a motorcycle at high RPM. Anyways, it performs well, added around 8 hp and only cost $150.

I don't wanna rain on your parade, but you are never in a million years going to get 8hp from a muffler.
You'd be lucky to get that much from a complete, from the manifold back, catless exhaust.

Anyway, he's looking for a cat-back system.

Maybe I overestimated a bit... maybe 2 to 4 horsepower? I did cut out the resonance chamber and put in a straight pipe, but that may have only made it louder! The same weekend I got the muffler, my buddy and I installed a cold air intake, and I know I got a boost in power from that. How much- I'm not sure.

I'm no pro when it comes to cat backs, but I've heard good things about the Magnaflow setup. I believe it runs around $350.

Cool thanks for all the info, one of my boys turned me on to vividracing.com and they actually have a Borla exhaust for like 500 bucks, not much of a difference between that and the magnaflow (like $50) shipping is about the same. Can anyone give me a personal prefrence on which would do a better job, not really worried bout the price difference, and my friend will install it for me for free ( he did his own install on a turbo subaru, bent his own pipes and all that fun stuff, cept for the fine tuning if I remember correctly) sorry to ramble thanks again

if you got the borla Cat back, I think you will be very impressed with the performance and the sound quality. if you throw on a header it just sounds perfect. The more flow the cooler the tone.

I love it

Im about to get the Thunder Racing setup from Kargoboy. I already have the header so my setup is going to actually be a header-back system. But I know Tampasport20 (or macdaddyslomo on here) has the setup and he raves about it. Ill post pics upon delivery and install!!

OK quick but depressing update Vivid just called me today and said that the Borla that I had purchchased was discontinued from Borla so now I;m waiting on the to call m,e back to see what other vendors will support the MP3 that they deal with, this blows cause I was looking forward to a very easy process and now this not pissed off just frustrated, and prolly will have to postpone the install till next Friday since Im sure that they wont do anything on the delivery for me, hell the guy hasnt even called me back yet (been almost 24 hours now). Anywho I'll keep everyone updated !

Why not just buy a Racing Beat? Can't beat the sound, and DEFINATLY can't beat the fitment.
