Estimated Cost of Mazdaspeed Pro
I have seen and read some ballparking figures for 20-22k USD and was wondering what that would be like in CAD dollars. The three things I thought that needed to be addressed on the Protege (power, I hate riding in my buddies Spec V; stereo, did anyone mention bass to mazda; and wheels, stock 16's are nice, but I would prefer 17's) are all covered in the MSpeed. If it is not seriously overpriced, I am seriously considering looking into trading the ol Pro5 for one. Sure I'll take a hit, but if I was to upgrade those things later anyways individually, it could cost me a lot of....how the hip say......"bling bling".
Summing up, how much in CAD dollars would a Mazdaspeed cost, guesses are welcome.

I presume it will start at around $25,000MSRP that is or maybe give or take a thousand. But then dealers will jack up prices even more. I don't think Mazda intends to price it high, despite it's exclusivity, mainly because it does not want to be compared to the Subaru WRX. But then they will be compared. Heck, they even compared the Protege5 to the WRX wagon. Not a fair comparison in IMO, but then the Protege5 still holds ground despite having about 100hp less. Compare it to the 2.5TS and the Protege5 will have better chances.

There is no way in hell the MS Protege is going to be 25K CDN. The MP3 was 26K and was lacking the following features that the MS has: sunroof, cruise, TURBO system, fancy interior trim, etc. I'm anticipating the MS to be pushing 30K, ouch.
May as just save up the extra few grand and get an RX-8.

I asked the Manager from Signature Mazda in Vancouver, and he said, because the MP3 was around 26k the 03 Mazaspeed will be more, much more because it's more powerful and has a LOT more additions, he estimates anywhere from 28-30K CAD. Whoever said 25k is an idiot.

For those who know what I am talking about.....I believe the MazdaSpeed Protege will be eligable for the S plan...But I am not sure. If that is the case...I might trade in the ol' MP5 (<-opps I said it again).

vkyolv, please don't hold out on me....what is the s plan, is it like some preferred trade-in for another Mazda product? Do you get a good deal or what? Not that it matters much if the price is that high. Yeowch. And the extra 3g's in taxes don't make me cheer either.

The S plan is for Ford mo co employees and families, I got out Pro throuhg it for almost 1000 under invoice. (If I remember right). It's different for different cars (depends on what the car is actually costing ford/or dealer.) People who aren't employees or family members aren't eligible.

the Mazdaspeed Protege is expected to retail for approximately 20-22K USD(not Canadian)...to be honest,I'm not even sure it will be offered in Canada, due to limited production numbers(aprox 1500)...NO,this will not be an S-Plan option..(good luck trying to get a dealer to sell it s-plan anyway, they dont have to sell a vehicle S-plan if they choose not to)..also to add everybody is talking about what it has over the MP3...what about the LSD?!?!?! this will be a HUGE performance addition to this vehicle...although based on the performance numbers, dont wait for Mazdaspeed to offer this turbo kit,buy the Tri-Point kit as they are getting better numbers...........off subject...anyone no where i might be able to get a lightened Flywheel or better clutch for the 1.6L Pro...I would love an increase in torque and to floss some extra bhp from my engine

the s-plan isn't always for ford employes, as i got the s-plan cause my step-dad works for hewlett packard. its the x-plan at ford and so on and so on. my pro5 was listed at 18,515 and i got 1100 off plus 2.9 % apr for 4 years so it aint bad. oyu probably wont get the s-plan on a limited production car cause i know we couldn't get the x-plan on any SVT products except the lightening. s-plan is very good and i wouldn't be owning a pro5 if i didn't get that deal

The Mazda S-Plan is for employees of Ford Motor Company suppliers. Ford Motor Company here refers to all of Ford's subsidiaries (Mercury, Lincoln, Mazda, Volvo, Rover, etc.). If you are not an employee (or family member of an employee) of a Ford supplier, you can join the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) for a fee and qualify for the S-Plan. http://www.eaa.org/communications/ea...d_partner.html
Employees (and their family members) of Ford Motor Company or subsidiaries qualify for the E-Plan. The E-Plan is the ultimate savings plan. Even Mazda dealership employees qualify for this plan. I'm not sure if other subsidiary dealerships qualify.
Either way, S-Plan and E-Plan pricing is set by the manufacturer. Don't let dealerships tell you otherwise. On the vehicle's invoice, you will find the invoice price, S-Plan price, E-Plan price, and MSRP.
I hope this helps someone with their next purchase!
