Emblem Corrosion?

I washed my car the pther day and noticed that the Mazda emblem on the rear hatch is corroded and pitted. Anyone else have this problem? I assume it will be covered under warranty.

Yes it is corroded and yes it is under warranty. I swear in the last 3 days I've seen this question 50 times between the two boards....

Most of them are probably on the other board then.

I did a search, I'm well aware of the "do a search" mentality of this board.

thanks for that info on the corrosion. i found some corrision
on the emblems on my other car the other day after doing a
wax job, etc.... i think im going to go ahead and wax the
emblem before it corrodes on mine too.

they should just make these emblems out of plastic and not
have to worry about it.

When I had my initial rust treatment shortly after I bought my car, they gave me a bottle full of "grease" and told me to brush some around the emblems once a month during the winter months (when it's clean), and that would prevent them from rusting. I've been doing that and it's been working as promised.

wouldnt that grease take off the wax around the emblem
if you accidentally touch it?

I was told to brush it on the edges of the chrome features and then wipe off the residue. I haven't noticed anything happening to the surrounding area, after about 5 months of doing this (I don't see a need to do it again until next November). What I have found is that salt won't stick to the area, it sort of slides away. I have no idea what is in that grease, but the place I had it done has been doing it for a lot of years, so I'm hopeful they have solid evidence that it works.
