dyno day..have a guess

hi guys and gals

as i'll be dynoing my 2000 1.6l on the 12th...try and have a guess at what figure i'll get at the wheels.

oh..by the way all i've done is a cat back exhaust (2in).

before any one says why bother dynoing it..i'm doing it in with a group of 25 or so cars..so it'll be hell cheap...and also it will be a good base to compare future mods.

considering that the 2.0 liter puts about 105 to the wheels, i would guess at 90 hp. (95 tops)

has anyone dynoed a stock 1.8 or a two litre?
what sort of drive train loss did they see? e.g. 25%

if drive train loss was 25% the output would be 76.25..with exhaust maybe it would jump to 80 hp at the wheels...who knows??

i would think if it was 25%, that's pretty bad. for a front wheel drive car, i would guess at 20% max.

Are we creating a pool here? Everyone throw in $20 and the closest to the real HP number gets the dough?

My apologies to any Gamblers Anonymous members.

I'm gonna say 82 HP at the wheels. I expect my cash if I win.

Happy New Year all.

I dynoed my LX (1.8) 3 months ago. All I had was a K&N drop in and a 5zigen universal muffler and it put out 110.4 hp@6200rpm and 112.7 ft.lbs @4500 rpm. I did this to get a base line and to compare it to a zx3 with a cone filter and put out the same hps but with a 118 ft.lbs of tq. Both are 5spd.

P5 Dyno Numbers

I dynoed my Protege5 during NOPI. All I had were 18" rims done. I put 100.0 HP to the wheels and 107.7 ft-lbs of torque. This is the 2.0L if you weren't sure.

dyno day revelation

o.k guys its official..my car puts out a whopping 75hp atw at 140kph (so i guess i was closest

yellow>>that's a pretty impressive figure..what's instore for it in the future??

mr zoom>> what are the stock hp figures for 1.8l and 2.0l at the crank??

njaremka>> it looks like drive train loss was greater than 25%...seems very inefficient..

If I'm not mistaken it was publish 122 hp for the 1.8L and 130 for 2.0L

Although I find it hard to believe that some of the hp ratings on this board seems low.

here watch the dynorun

other cars dynoed that day included a corolla "seca" 100kw engine..which put out 64kw atw..mine did 55.5kw atw..also a nissan exa with a CA-18 motor..its a 1.8...put out 53kw atw...so i wasn't embarrassed at all by the low figure...

yellow>>damn..u seemed to have gained some decent hp's with only minor mods!! did u dyno the car in third or fourth gear..the reason i ask is because after speaking to several people..dynoing in third may give u an inflated figure..whereas dynoing in fourth is supposed to give a more accurate reading..??

pmenace>>damn right LOL!!
