I'm not too sure of Honda's quality anymore. True they used to make great cars but if you're looking at the current Civic I think they cheap out way too much. I had a 01 Civic before the P5 and I get nothing but trouble with that car. Traded it in with 30000km for the P5.

When I say trouble I don't mean minor stuff...things like engine stalling and suspension shocks leaking fluid (I was on me 3rd set of shocks when I sold the car). A jamming clutch slave cylinder, driver seat rock back and forth on its rails and a defective steering rack...all within one year of ownership. Honda dealers are so confident in their product quality and whenever I take it to them it always come back with a "no problem found". They did look at the stalling problem because I went on a test drive with the tech and it stalled twice right in front of him. But after a new ECU and various new sensors the problem is still there. After a couple close calls in killing myself (due to engine stalling in the middle of the road) I've concluded that car is a safety hazard and got rid of it. Maybe I had a lemon but check out www.7thgencivic.com and you'll see a lot of members have the same problem with their cars too. They even have a section dedicated to problem discussion.

Sorry for the long post but after this experience I'll stay away from Honda for a long time to come.

our other car is a 2k1 civic...it has 20,000 miles and has been spot on reliable. i often drive both and get to notice things such as none of the power windows in the pr5 go up and down at the same speed...the door doesn't make the "whoomp" sound like our civic does...the interior is nice but not as solidly constructed as our civic is...but i bought this car for the way it drives

I'm sure there are perfect samples of new Civics out there. But it seems that the build tolerance is quite high for Japanese brand standard. So the chance of getting a problematic one is way up there.

Don't take my words for it...head over to www.7thgencivic.com and see the problem discussion forum yourself.

i've also read about the pr5 and protege problems here too...both cars are well screwed together...i don't think one car is better made than the other nor one more reliable than the other...yes i've been to that site and read the problems there...for the 12 other people that i know who own a 7g...none has had a defect nor recall to their car...i'm hoping that will also be the case with the pr5

i found some quirks with my pr5 and i was wondering if others had the same thing
