Center rear mirror location flawed?

Center rear mirror location flawed?
Just notice that the left edge of my passenger side sun shade is cracked today. The filling is exposed. Not very noticible but still an eye sore . I am pretty sure the damage is caused by scratching with the center rear mirror repeatedly when the sun shade is pushed all the way to the windshield. If the center rear mirror had been located a bit lower than it is, the sun shade would have complete clearance and won't scratch the mirror at all.
Well, to be fair, the sun shade did withstand scratching with the mirror 4 times a day (for putting my large windshield sun shade on and off) for over a year...
I just want to see if anyone out there encounter the same problem. Any good way to avoid this again after I replace the passenger side sun shade (eventually)?

Umm... is it just me...? I guess it makes sense. Each person's driving position affects the the position of the rear mirror... I am 5-7 and like to sit high and pretty up right (used to my old '89 Civic's low belt line). I guess there is not much I can do except being more careful... Hope a new visor doesn't cost much...

Same here Dale......the FIRST time I put my visor down on the passenger side it hit the rear view mirror...I said WTF!! then the lightbulb came on over my head and I realized that he mirror has two pivots...one right at the windhshield and the other right at the mirror....I pivoted the mirror down at the joint near the windshield and then UP at the mirror.....presto chango....I could see...and the visor was now no where near the mirror anymore.

I feel so stupid.... Didn't know there are TWO pivot points... Now the visor doesn't scratch the mirror anymore. Too bad the damage has been done. Need to find out how much the visor cost. Is it available online?
