Question Cel Please Help!

Well i was changing my oil the other day and when i went to take the filter off i noticed a wire hanging above the filter. When i took the filter off i guess i unplugged the wire. The wire has two connectors( one of the leads is red) I see right above the oil filter is a bolt with a connector for the wire, so i connected the two leads into this one socket but i still get the CEL. Anyone know what this wire is for? I'm thinking ground or some kind of sensor. The wire has almost no slack and it reaches the bolt with the connector perfectly..but like i said the wire has two different leads. Maybe i should reconnect the wire were i had it and disconnect my battery to let the ecu reset? Thanks in advance for anyone who knows what i'm talking about and someone slap me in the face if i shouldn't be driving around with the car like that.

without going and doing some investigation I don't know what you accidently unplugged .... HOWEVER....your idea of resetting the ECU is the FIRST thing I would do as you reconnected the wire. IF that doesn't work....then I would take a spin down to my dealer and say....hey? WHAT GIVES? and let them fix it! do NOT tell them that YOU unplugged or pulled loose the wire to begin with...as to be honest...from your description of what you saw/did....you may or may not have done that while changing your oil.

the wire you speak of is the oil pressure sensor wire, its for the low oil pressure dummy light. this will make no diffrence in the performance of your car, it is simply for the dummy light.
