Blew the trans!!!

I had my Blue MP3 towded to the dealer today and they removed the trans and took it apart and said that i snapped a shift fork in half. I hope it will be covered under warranty and if not whatever, they should have built the tranny a little better. It seems like everyone is complaining about them. I will know more about it on monday i will give more details then for those who are interested.

They will fix it for you because they feel guilty. Sorry to hear that you have to do without your MP3 enjoyment for a little while, Josh.

I hope nobody get upset this is just an observation but it seems that alot of these failure are related to the driving style of the average MP3 owner or lack of stick driving experience. I could be and probalby am wrong.

i agree.. it does seem that driving style of the average mp3 owner is what seems to be the cause. considering that the tranny in the mp3, is the same tranny that's in the regular 2.0l protege's.

Blew the trans!!!

I read all of the treads from everyone and just so everyone knows, I have been driving manual transmission for the past 10 years so shifting is not the problem. I am use to shifting cars with over 300bhp so the very little 140 that the mp3 has is nothung. Now i did shift into third gear very quickly (not hard), not letting up on the gas at all and using the clutch the whole clutch no side stepping or anything. So i don't know what i did wrong or what went wrong with the trans. But what is the difference the trans is destoyed and i am hopping that mazda will pick up the bill.

ROFLMFAO!!! I just love it here...Josh I feel ya, I make a living driving a 6 speed, but still get ribbed.
Oh well, Mazda should have no problems picking up the bill for this. I feel like it's in the bag.

but as Jesse forgot to mention... we would like all members to stay here, and have more join, this issue is not worth leaving over. we're just trying to clear up the bs about mazda trannies being ****. I agree with him about it being somewhat irritating, because some of them don't seem to get it that it's more of an isolated thing due to driver error. the tranny in the mp3, is the same tranny in the rest of the 2.0l protege's including the protege5. I don't care if some guy has been driving a 6 speed for a while.. is the mp3 a 6 speed, so right off the bat, it's not the same tranny. I bet he's talkin about driving a truck right? again, not the same thing. That's like me saying I used to drive a pathfinder, so I should be able to drive the same with my protege. Let take a look at the pathfinders shifter... it's ohh... ABOUT A FOOT TALLER. and what do you have to do to shift in a truck.. be a little more agressive pulling it to where you want it to go. hmmmm... agressive shifting in a truck > shifting in a car. i wonder how you're gonna shift in the car... probably agressive like you did the truck because that's what you're used to. therefore: bent shift fork or whatever else problem. thank you, have a nice day.

If you think you have to shift hard or aggresive in a truck then you have not driven my international. It shifts VERY smoothly without even using a friggin clutch. I can shift out of every gear in that thing except for first of course without using the clutch and it doesn't even make the slightest grinding noise. Hell I can even downshift in it without using the clutch. You just have to get the RPM's just right in order to do so which comes from Driving Thousands of Miles. Don't tell me that I don't know how to shift, even though I admit a truck is different than a car in the fact that gearing is different and the shifter is not the same size, it still is not COMPLETELY different.

I just love how some of the people on this board hear someone state something that happened to their car and they jump all over the guy/girl saying that he/she must not know how to drive. It's a blame first, ask questions later thing with some people. It gets to be rather "Irritating" after a while to hear the same people saying the same ****, like a friggin broken record.

But go on and keep "assuming" what you people want to. You have your right to say what you feel and I have the right to say what I feel.

How can the mods' be sure Whether it's fact or not without having all of the evidence in their hands or knowing the people personally? They CAN'T! So what gives them the right to say we're wrong? Not a damn thing if you ask me.

Have a nice day!

Oh wait Jesse this thread is probably not going to go anywhere now so you might want to close it, Until another one opens up.
It's strange how more and more of these cases are showing up.

Just an added note not to stir the soup or anything, but I drove in the trucking industry for some time (10yrs.) Everything from 6spd. to 15, 18, 21, 5+4's etc. and a truck does NOT shift like a car. Completely different animal. In a truck I only used a clutch to start or stop, otherwise none used. Even when changing ranges. Although I can shift my P5 without a clutch, I rarely do. It only takes one gear bounce and your fork is toast... truck transmisions are designed for extreme torque up to 2250 lb.
