Question Aftermarket Exhaust on P5

I just got my Sport Compact Car issue, and in it I see a deal on an AC Autotechnic "Revolution" tunable style muffler. So my question is, has anyone ever heard of this brand? Are they Good? Will I loose any horsepower? Should I go for it any buy the muffler? So if there are any mechanics or mod experts on here that have some info please let me know.

Oh yea, I've heard people talking about cat-back thingies and catalytic converters (or however you say them). Will I need to change any of them things on my car, or do I need to get them if I allready don't have them. (As you can see I'm new with this whole exhaust thing) So please post some info.

check this cat back from racing beat at www.racingbeat.com

also skunk2 has a cat back system www.skunk2.com

CAT back system changes everything except the headers, it all comes as a "bolt-on" procedure. check out the links.

Actually a CAT BACK system replaces all your exhaust system from AFTER the CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, back to the rear of the car...it removes NONE of your emmisions stuff....and if you are buying a cat back system...its comes complete...just bolt it up.

I would say no to this question. I just tried that route. I was not happy with the power, and sound. With the "axle back" the stock pipes are still in there. There is a resinator on the pipe just after the cat. It is made to keep the stock muffler quite. I put my muffler on and it sounded ok, then took off the resinator. I noticed gain in power, and sound got better. I will include pics so you will see what I am talking about.
this is the part I had removed. I just went to my local muffler shop and had a custom cat-back done. All in all it cost me around 100 dollars. I used stock size pipe of 2.25 inches.

Just an after shot of the muffler

before I start do you mean that just the removal of the resinator and a little extra piping cost you 100, or the removal of the resinator, little extra piping and a new muffler cost you a 100 all together?

Racing Beat's cat-back system dynoed @ 4.7hp & 5.0 ftlbs increase. Looks like a very high quality system. Check it out on their website.

That's about par for the course with just about any exhaust system you might put on a P5. Cat-backs may give another 1 or 2 HP.

But is your warranty still good on your car after you installed the exhaust?(meaning you didn't messup your warranty with the new exhaust on there)

Axle Back Exhaust is pointless, unless you just want the look, youll hardly gain any power from it, samething with "performance mufflers"

Cat back systems will do you best for the money youre going to spend, of course most systems will cost a pretty penny

ALSO, u could buy a muffler from like say Apexi (Apexi N1) and take it to a muffler shop and have them do bigger piping from the cat-back and slap it on, therefore you still have a Cat Back System and you will have more opitions on the style of muffler you want

I saw a P5 the other day with a K&N sticker and a Mazda Speed Axle back, i just sat back and laughed, a great waste of money for 2WHP

Have you or anybody elseever hear of ACautotechnic "revolution" muffler? Do you think or anybody else think I should go get it and slap it on the ride?
