Are 99-00 hoods really the same as the 01+ Hoods?

you wouldnt have to change anything! the hoods from an 01-03 protege are the exact same part numbers as the 99-00 proteges are...the hood's fit perfectly on each other. all you have to do is make sure you line up the hood the right way and there wouldn't be a problem. NO CHANGES REQUIRED

you are full of sh(izzle) fabian....all you have to do to tell the difference is look..the contours around the headlights are different, and look at the middle of the hood...Oh my ! Looks like a 99-00 is flat in the middle...01+ has a crease !! don't spread false info !!!

Why would you ever want to change an 00 front end to the newer version? Personally I like the looks of the 99-00 better. Its more "jagged"

By what I've seen with my own two eyes from a white 99 protege with a 01-03 carbon evo5 hood, there is absolutely no difference. I know they look different and blah blah. You can bolt it right on

Just by looking at the pictures, I would have to agree with fabian.

post pics then...is there a crease in the middle of the hood ?? I think you saw a 99 Portege with a 99-00 EVO hood. They DO make one

Eh, I dunno, I know what your saying, but I've looked all up and down for a 99-00 evo hood from VIS and they dont make one. But the one I saw had a VIS badge on it, why would the part numbers be different if the hoods were different?

because VIS didnt know they were different hoods... they used to advertise them both as the same hood until someone brought it to their attention

Okay fine... you're right. I looked at pictures of just the hoods and the headlight angles are alot different. The newer proteges are allot "steeper". But I wouldn't think that crease in the middle would have done anything. itsn't that just a surface thing for show. it wouldn't necessarily change the actual shape of the hood.
Sorry for being wrong.....again
