3rd Brake light removal

Does anyone know a clean/ easy way to get my third brake light inside the car against the rear window (just so we all know exactly what I'm talking about ;-) removed. Is there an insert I could put in there to fill the spot when it's gone.

I'm getting an MP3 Spoiler with built in 3rd brake light and don't want it to be the 4th! lol.

I am hoping there is an easier solution than getting a new rear deck from a junk yard off of a protege that already had a spoiler (hence no 3rd brake light inside the car).

Thanks!!!

I just have 4 break lights. .

You can go to your mazda dealer and get the cover for it its just a cap that replaces the light.

You can also just take the existing 3rd light out, and it will only leave a few slots in the deck where it sat. If your windows are tinted no one will see it anyway. I've heard the dealer throws you under the bus for that cover piece anyway. (Mucho $$$$$$)

another question still

So when you say take it out, you mean the whole assembly that sticks out of the rear deck with the red lens and all right? So when it's removed there will be a few slots but it will be relatively flat?

I guess I'm just a little confused as to how it actually looks off.

I will prob not mess with it until my spoiler is fully installed otherwise I'd go out and "rip" it out now! Gently of course.

Do you use the existing wiring to hook up the new 3rd brake light on the new spoiler? Is that a hard install?

thanks

It will indeed be flat under there, I've had to remove it to remove the rear deck cover to get at the strut mounting bolts. As for the wiring of the spoiler, I've tried myself to find out if it "taps into" that harness, or the existing tail lights, but to no avail. I was going to get one of those "pre-painted OEM spoilers" off E-Bay until I looked at the guy's feedback. People either were happy or totally dismayed, so I stayed away. Good luck
