Question 2003 Protege Es Side Moldings

I have a 2003 Protege ES that I want to take the side moldings off of. What I was wondering is if there are any plastc clips on the back of the moldings or holes on the door. Does anyone know what I have to do to take the moldings off ? Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the molding is just stuck on there with a strong adhesive. You could use a flat object like a knife or something to take it off, but you may scratch your paint.

They are only glued. However, why? Yes it's differant but that also keeps the door dings down. Mine have saved my door so may times I can't count them.

Agreed...^^ The cleaner look can be nice, but it's alot cheaper to replace a plastic strip than repaint a door.

That's good to know! I never knew that and I was contemplating whether I should removed them or not. But I sorta like the side moldings better than none.

Thanks for the feedback guys. You all made good points about the moldings however I disagree about the look. I like the Protege better without the side moldings. Also the Mazdaspeed Protege has no side moldings at all (guess those people aren't worried). True the side moldings protect dings but you're going to get dings in your door either way.
