Question What Exhaust?

I have a 2002 Protege LX. I've done a few things to it, but nothin really special so far. I have an intake, and now I figure I'll do the exhaust. First of all, i'm not really sure if i should get the whole cat-back system, or forget that and just get the muffler and nice tip. The only cat-back i kno of is the racing beat, and im not sure i really wanna do that anyways. thougts???? also, what are some good mufflers if i decide to just go that way... I dont want ricey, more throaty, kind of deep but not like musclecar deep...do u have any ideas, or should i go to a couple of stores and see that they have to say?

you could always try the search button. You should be able to find everything you have just asked, because it has been asked before.

MazdaSpeed and Racing Beat both offer cat-back exhaust systems for the 2.0 liter motors. While the cat-back will set you back more money than a muffler/tip combo, it will give you some added power (even if it's only 2-5 hp).

Sound is personal so try and listen to different examples of the systems you're interested in buying.

I've searched before, and i can find some mufflers that appear interesting, but i was wondering if anyone has personal experience with the way any of these sound, and if they have any to recommend from experience.

SR sounds simular to MazdaSpeed (well at least what i heard from a sound sample on someones web site here) its not loud but its definately dosen't sound like a coffie can muffler.

I just went to a local muffler shop, bought a nice Magnaflow and had them install it..$150. Then about a week later I went back and had them remove the resonator, just not loud enough and faded out at about 4500 rpms. Now it sounds good....:-) Sorry pic is so dirty, but it cleans up really nice.
