question for a newbie

Aside from nitrous or boost is there anyway to get some horsepower out of the 2.0 engine? I havn't boughten a Protege 5 yet but I've got hopes to. I'm hesitant to go and buy one but I would like to be able to get about 25-30 extra horsepower out of it. How do I go about doing that?
Jeff

I know, I'm a pain...oh, and I did search, but I want difinitive answers. Thanks

Eggs Benedict, he said "besides nitrous or boost"

depending on your budget and experience with engine work yourself there is a number of different ways to achieve 25hp. A member of this forum installed a 4-2-1 header, a pair of cams, and a new exhuast and netted around 20whp and 25lb/ft of torque...all for around $700. There are a bunch of different internal modifications that can be done as well...

$$ spent on the right parts, plus some do-it-yourself installations and you too can have a more peppy Protege!

True, I just used examples to get around 25hp more than stock...
