What Cone\Filter fits the... stock intake pipe at the plece where it does into the stock box where the filter is...

I think it's a great idea to just slap on a cone and remove the stock box\filter\(filter-box).

Thanks

Unhappy

sounds good, but how does cold air get in there cuz it's all sealed up looking at it from the front....is has that rubert seal that is on the hood.

Any one successfully re-directed more air into the stock system\intake?

There's no room for the stock intake to get air from anywhere except around the tops of the headlights and over the top of the grill. That's a space that's only about 1/8" high. I talked about this several months ago. You can modify your grill support by making an opening below the snorkel to let air in. It does work. Take a look at what Flying Miata just dynoed their P5 at. They lost over one HP with the hood closed. The stocker just won't breath around the headlights.

Also, the stock airbox is restrictive. YOU CANNOT MAKE IT FLOW WELL. This is because the inlet is in the middle of the box facing forward. The only part of the filter that gets used is the first 3.5" or so. Put a new filter in and run it for 5-6K and then take it out and look at it. The dirt is all in the first 3-4". That's because of the way the box is designed. In order for the rest of the filter to be used, the air would have to come into the box, move past where the MAF is, move up through the filter, turn around and head towards the front of the box, turn 180 degrees and go through the MAF. This is just not going to happen. Air is a fluid and acts just like water when it's flowing. It will take the shortest path. The shortest path through our airbox is from the inlet through the first 3-4 inches of filter, and into the MAF that is pointing towards that first 3-4 inches of filter.

If the MAF was at the REAR of the airbox lid pointing towards the filter and the inlet was on the lower portion or the front pointing towards the filter the K&N would make a much larger difference.
