Turbo muffler

I wan wondering if anyone has just had a Turbo muffler welded on with a nice tip. I want to change the exhaust but do not want it loud. Also since their is not much gain with a 300-500 hundred dollar exhaust in horsepower, I thought of welding on a turbo muffler. with doing just that will it be loud inside the cabin? I hear the mazdaspeed is kind of loud and that is the most I am looking at spending is 200.00 on an exhaust. So back to original question will it be loud or sound bad with it just being a 4 cyl? Thanks

Leegina, welcome to the club, and our happy home away from home...

No one will really be able to answer your question for sure....unless you know exactly the brand and type of muffler you are thinking of having installed....for the sound levels it will produce are dependant on the specific brand and model you are going to use.

Sorry, but that is the plain truth of it.

Not to mention....to get any performance out of it, it will need to be free flowing...meaning a straight through (for the most part) and such...its going to be louder....but it will help using the stock pipe as you mentioned as the resonator will be retained...and that alone will keep the sound level down.

I understand, I guess the muffler I was looking at would be a Magnaflow or Dynomax bullet style muffler. The other muffler would be a magnaflow performance style muffler(which looks like an older mustang muffler or kind of like a flowmaster style. I just do not want to put a bigger tip on my stock muffler I would like to change the sound to a little louder but not where you notice it inside the car. And keep the cost down to around 125 installed because all of these other mufflers are about 75-85 shipped then buying a decent tip plus install. Performance gain is not really the option because what do you gain 2-3 horsepower? Not really worth spending somewhere around 400-500 for 2-3 horsepower. But I would like to stay away from the fart can sound and loudness inside of car and high price. Is their anything that will work? Thanks for any of your help!

i was reading the responses to your topic...if your just going to get a muffler and get it welded on to your stock pipping then your just going for looks, there will be no HP gains there (maybe mentally), get a cat-back system (racing beat) if money allows it. This is my opinion on that....wait until some company comes out w/ a header then think about getting a exhaust system (cat-back). if anybody gets a exhaust system (cat-back) and has no header you are defeating the purpose of having your exhaust. the FLOW is still being restricted...if you have a automatic please don't get any exhaust...it won't sound right

Thank you to everyone that responded. I guess my question got answered quick because I do have an Auto and do not want it to sound nasty. I bought this car as a beater car to just drive to and from work. So that is basically the only time I drive it, but I do have the disease of always having to customize whatever I drive. I just sold a C5 Vette because it was not practical with a newborn and bought the Pro for mileage and looks. I do like the car but man I am dying for a new toy that has some power. I guess as I stop buying baby clothes daily I can save up and get an EVO or S4 to play with. Thanks for all of your help. I guess my bug will be cured for a long time now. No more mods on the Pro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn.
