Hey,

I have a 2000 Protege 1.6l auto. The problem is on the shifter i have a buton to disable or enable O/D but it doesn't do nothing no more. The litle light in the dash does not comme on and the RPM does not change... other than that the car works fine.. any ideas???

electrical problem in the overdrive. Either bad switch, or short in the system somewhere....

a fuse should ALWAYS be the first thing you check with an electrical problem....it's the easiest and cheapest to fix!!

Check with a ECU diagnostics tool to see what code will show. I used to have a 626 1996 and the OD would go crazy and it was a special sensor "inside" the auto tranny! It would cost more to change the sensor than the sensor itself. Check that is not the sensor inside the tranny.

Good luck
