Throttle body 1.6

The Throttle body on the 1.6 is i think 2.5 inches.
the 2.0 is 3 inches .. correctme if i am wrong..
can i put a 2.0 throttle body on the 1.6 intake manifold to give the engine more air??
I want to know this cause i am about to get cold air intake..
and the 1.6 and 2.0 ones arent interchangeable..

thanks

I wouldnt bother trying to give the car more air, it already is able to get more then it could ever use.

OMG, that has to be the worst response ever.any engine can use more air, question is whats the best way to get it in there...what do you think a turbo does??? It crams more air in there...the answer is no, u cannot interchange the TB's..bigger TB will give you little to no gain though....

Actually now that I go back and read this it was a badly worded reponse.

I should have included NA wise but I figuerd that was a given.

I can't remember who told me this, but I heard that you can bore out the TB up to 5mm, but that won't do much of anything. You can get a bit of a HP increase if you bore it out 2-3 mm. Thats all I would do if I decide to get mine bored. I might get it done the same time I go to get my head port and polished, exhaust manifold port matched to the head and intake manifold (when I get one custom made) "opened up" more to allow more air to pass through. Also, Im going to get my downpipe widened out some when I get my turbo.

steve the bored TB will help you if you get a turbo, but until then it will give you little or nothing in gains, regardless if you bore it 3 or 5mm

Thats what I couldn't remember. If it worked with N/A or Turbo'd cars.
