Question Synthetic or Not

I bought my wife a new 2002.5 Protege5 several weeks ago. Is it better to go synthetic in this car, or stay with regular oil? This is our first Mazda and I want to make it last. We are up for suggestions. ThankX

better??? well if you plan on letting your car go past the 5000k mark before an oil change than synthetic may be worth the double/triple price. Other wise the only reason i can see to get syn is for performance purposes.
