New Exhaust Discovery
Ok guys this may just be new to me but I went to the Ziel webpage and they have 4 different types of exhaust for the Protege a N1 style, a semi-titanium style, and two bullet styles. The cheapest I could see was about 590 I have e-mailed them though to get some pricing on these. I may have to dump my Apexi exhaust for a J-Spec N1 endurance exhaust!!!

good find ch. hey try to find pricing and what kind of power these products give out. I dont waste money on stuff that doesnt give me power or perfomance. My racing medalion sounds sweet and looks great but i dont think it ads power.

OK guys here is the info I got from Ziel. They will have the N1 endurance exhaust out shortly it will be priced at 680 and will be made of full lightweight Stainless steel. They are thinking about a limited run of turbo versions also I'm getting in on that one.

Basically you get what you pay for here. It is made of 1MM thick lightweight SS with Ziels N1 edurance muffler. This is also a true JDM exhaust tuned on teh circiut that our cars were designed for in japan. I think that due to the tuning involved in this exhaust it will be a much superior exhaust than the Bosal which is really our only other Cat-Back option. Same thing as if you asked a Honda guy which is he gonna buy for performance Bosal or Tanabe Racing Medalion? See what I'm getting at?

I see. So out of the four different kinds that they have for the ~99 Protege, what is the difference besides the price. I don't know what a N1 style or semi-titanium style is. I've heard of bullet style though. Are the differences simply the shape of the muffler or is there a performance difference?

I'm pretty sure the Ziel Systems are only for the Sedan but could be modified by any good muffler shop to fit the P5. You would just need to shorten the length of the tubing right before the muffler.

The only problem is if this exhaust was designed and tuned in Japan, it was designed for a very different version of our engine. I'm quite sure they're not racing US spec 130HP FS-DE engines in Japan. It looks to be a good quality exhaust system, and if you complete your turbo application, it may be worthwhile for you. For other N/A Protege owners with simple bolt-on mods, the Bosal may be a better option, especially for the price. Until we remove or relocate the stock primary cat, we aren't going to get the most out of parts already available to us.
