need advice on N/A mods

ok guys this is a preemptive SOS. I'm turnin 21 Aug. 7th so i have about 12 days to spend money before i start saying hello to my new friend legal alcohol. I need an exhaust with a healthy rumble to it. None of those silencer whoopi cusion sounding bomb exhausts. Also, please tell me I'm looking at a body kit option for the '99 1.6L. I'm feelin alittle screwed as mods increase for the 2001+ pro and pro5 but nothing comes to my lawn mower trim line. any help???????

What a stupid thing to say.

He was just asking for help and suggestions.

AS for a reply to the original question, well I dont have a 1.6 so I don't know what mods you could do, but Im sure if you use the search function at the top of the page you'll be able to find some ideas.

Thanks Blue. Im definately gona throw in a cat back as soon as possible, also I may have to take out the sencond cat or have the mufflershop wend a flange on the end of the cat because as is now the hole setup from 1st cat back is welded together. I dont think the turbo is gonna be financially possible since i'm living off hot dogs in college, but i definately want to keep that option open, especially after I read what everyone has to say about Corky and Brett's kits once they are released.

The 1.8 swap might not be enough bang for the buck-it's only about 25 more hp. If i'm gonna swap it Ill import the turbo mazda engine from japan (seen it on ebay for 1000 but put out close to 200hp)

PR5T, thanks for the sarcasm. Just curious, what are you drivin around? I like to tinker with my car on the weekends and when i found a neon kit for 55 bux i thought it looked pretty damn good. You turn alot more heads with the lights than just drivin around with nothin else on the car

sweet-210hp im my lil 4 banger I never did look to see if I had a primary cat near the manifold but that pesky one near the transaxle is still there starin me in the face. I was definately gonna get 2.25" though, 2.5" would just be too big and take away from what little torque i'm already pullin.

What muffler are you using? Im thinkin of an N1 style universal. I'd prefer a high flow straight through cylinder as apposed to an oval can (but anything is better than the keg they have on there now)

Tally makes for a great college town, but you're right-as soon as i graduate i'm outta here. I came from S. Florida and movin up here was almost like going back 50 years. My gas milage went from 350-400 a tank to 250-275

Wings west makes a sweet kit for the 01-02's. Since yours is a 99, you might need to change the headlights or the front grille, but besides that its the same body, so it should fit.

erebuni also makes a pretty cool kit.

Re-read blue LEDz's post. It is NOT a cat. It is a resonator. Your car only has one cat (the one by the manifold) unless it was bought out of state.

sweet kit, but will it fit the sedan?? I like the front bumper.

Does the resonator have a heat shield??

The wings west kit looks really cool-although i don't know about the rear bumper. I would totally get it if i knew that fitting to the car wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg at a body shop.

if the '99 uses the same chassis as the 00-02 than it should bolt up but would require a total refit of the grill assemble and possible the flares to the wheels.

Sweet deal though, any idea how much it would cost to get a kit painted and installed-just tryin to get a rough idea of how much it'll cost on top of the kit?
