Talking Mazdaspeed Exhaust Pics

Got my Mazdaspeed exhaust from work yesterday, and finally got to install it today when I got home from school today. The results are INCREDIBLE!!! It not only looks good, but the sound is a really bass-laden hum. At 2500-4000 RPM it's actually quite quiet, so you won't be bothered whilst crusing your favorite road. But drop a gear and punch it up to 5000 and above, and you're in acoustic heaven! I didn't get a chance to drive it yet, (the roads are too wet out here and the car is clean,) but just revved her in the driveway and let my smile broaden!

As soon as you jump off the gas, the sound turns to a really bassy (is that even a word?) hum. It doesn't sound riceboy, but you can definitly tell what the engine is supposed to sound like. What else can I say? I've waited since December, and from what my buddy in the parts department told me, I've got the first in western Canada. Well, enough rambling, I'll let the pics speak for themselves!

Comments / questions certainly welcome!

Wow! That does look sweet! Great job on the pics. DAmn, I'm torn between the Bosal's potential performance increase versus the MazdaSpeed's look and price. What to do, what to do?

Looks perfect...
I wonder if that's the same muffler/tip as Racing Beat is using with their catback system...

If only they'd hurry up and get a date for shipping the damned thing! ... not sure if it would make sense to get that Mazdaspeed exhaust and then have another shop fit (i.e. Brullen) some proper pipes up to the cat ..

How does it sound on the highway? Supposed you are going to drive it for 3 hrs, can you stand the noise (if any)?

To Aries:

I'd go for the Mazdaspeed to tell you the truth. It's just as well-flowing as the Bosal, but looks alot better in my opinion.

To ZoomZoomH:

Yeah, I really like the way it turned out!

To Bumble_G:

Good luck with the order, it'll take you at least 3 months before it comes in. They're back-ordered till at least June.

To Evil Homer MP5:

The sound question was described in the original post, and because I'm a Mazda employee, I got it for $327 Canadian. Retail customers should expect to pay $390 Canadian.

To 130hp:

Thanks! You won't regret it!

To Don668:

Yeah, the lift was really handy for sure!

To Rjakobs:

I would bet Racing Beat uses a different tip. This one is Mazda's. The RB system I heard was like $500 US, and although Cat-Back that's still alot for another 3 feet of pipe...

To Douggie:

Read the original post for the answer to your question.

To TheMAN:

It is straight through, yes.

Congrats Maxx mazda. The exhaust looks great. I think i'm gonna consider getting one also. I got a sedan so I should only be able to get the racing beat one. I'm sure they are pretty similar.

Thanks for the reply! Really would hope you have a chance to drive it around and tell us more!

would be great if you could drive on a highway like 75mph and tell us your experience, coz just revving it on the driveway doesn't tell us much

Besides, i can stand any kind of exhaust noise (varying RPMs) for 30 min or so, but when you're cruising on the highway at a constant 3000 RPM for 2-3 hrs, its a completely different story.

It looks as if the mazdaspeed exhaust will bolt right up to the bosal (after the bosal muffler is removed) w/o any cutting, etc; can anyone confirm this? Btw nice pics Nick
