Question Is Mazdaspeed exhaust phasing out Racing Beat's?

Hi all. I recently bought a used MP3 with a Ractive muffler that I don't like, so I looked up all the info on this site for a good Mazda muffler replacement. I decided to go back to the stock Racing Beat one (#0000-8M-C08) since it is quieter. But as I ordered one from www.mazdaformance.com, I ended up getting a Mazdaspeed (#0000-8M-C09) from UPS. So I called mazdaformance.com about it, and then mazdastuff.com, but they both told me that the Mazdaspeed one 'supercede?' the Racing Beat one, meaning the Mazdaspeed muffler is replacing or phasing out the older Racing Beat muffler at all Mazda dealership. And the Racing Beat one for the MP3 or Protege sedan is no longer available. One thing did puzzled me is that some of you guys bought a Racing Beat muffler quite recently, with pics and all posted. So can someone give me a hand in verifying this whole phasing out thing?

I like the Mazdaspeed one I have. Only had it for a couple days, but it sounds really nice. However, it does get annoying on freeway as it gets pretty loud at 60-80mph. So I would still like to get the Racing Beat one if they are still available. The mazdaformance.com is pretty nice too. They don't seem to be screwing me at all. The guy I talked to told me that I can always boxed it up and return it if it is not what I want, as long as I keep it nice and clean without driving with it too much.

Thanks in advance for any input and info. Really appreciate it!

The new Racing Beat muffler people are installing comes directly from Racing Beat. It is supposed to be slightly better than the stock MP3 one. How loud it is, I dont know. But I agree with you that the mazdaspeed muffler is not meant for the highway.

The Racing Beat one I got was ordered from www.mazdastuff.com about a week ago. They had just got that shipment in and had 7 or 8 left when I ordered it. So I do not know what is going on.

The exhaust people are purchasing directly from Racing Beat is a catback system. It is supposed to be very good although expensive ($449 at Racing Beat for the sedan although I believe I have seen it cheaper through distributors). I don't recall anyone posting a sound clip yet either. The MP3 came stock with a axle back Racing Beat muffler which you used to be able to buy from the dealership. Then Mazda also sells another axle back which is the MazdaSpeed part. Confusing eh?

TheMan, I already know the part #. It was in my first post of this thread. For everyone else, I am also aware of the new Racing Beat catback system for both 4-door and P5. I am more concern about the OEM Racing Beat axle back that we used to be able to get from any Mazda dealer, as the OEM Racing Beat MP3 muffler was all I need. But thanks a lot for all the replies

Looks like I'll keep the Mazdaspeed muffler after all. I think I can get used to it

Does anyone know web sites of distributors that carry the new Racing Beat Cat-back?
