you are correct.

I've seen stock p5/es/lx's put down between 98-105whp....STOCK. I find it difficult to believe he got 80whp from CR increase and some porting.

It's not easy to make huge power like he is claiming. Dyno sheets are a must for anyone making a claim like that...

so, is there anything in the works to mass produce some sort of forged kit for cheaper? or is there just not enough market for it? personally i know a SHITLOAD of probe and mx6 guys that would LOVE to have forged internals for the fs, i'm suprised there really isn't much going into this, maybe contact the few companys that have looked into this further and see if they would be interested in making just a kit, as opposed to doing all the work in house like they are now?

i dunno, but when i modify a car i like to do it as a whole, and i have to agree with juddz that bolt ons will only get you so far.... the next step for my PGT if i didn't have a change of heart was going to be a complete engine rebuild, with all forged internals, but i'd rather NOT drop a shitload of money into it, and get an msp ...

I had a 22% loss at the wheels...stock. I'm guessing I'm somewhere between 155-160hp now at the crank which is still not up to par with some of those new 3s

he also lightened the rotating assembly which reduces parasitic drag losses, free hp much like a set of lighter pulleys...plus cams, and a stand alone....

yeah. Most of the guys who go NA are doing the j-spec change over like intake manifold cams and highcompression pistons just hoping to get near the j-spec horse power of these 2.0's, but for some reason no one ever gets near it for some reason. My friend John was telling me I could get 180whp out of that too. I did more research and soon learned of gullible position. I was new to Proteges and I believed him, it sounded good though. Maybe with all that 180hp at the crank. But not WHP.

.
Pauter makes rods and I believe JE or Wiseco make custom pistons for a reasonable price, in multiple compression ratios. Hell, they might even have them in stock.

Thats about right. I talked to a tech from Tripoint when I was at Mosport a few weeks ago. He said they last about five hours. Thats practice, qualifying, and a race.

how did you figure you had 22% drivetrain loss?? dyno'd and assumed the 130bhp figure mazda quoted?? I dunno if I'd ever trust mazdfas power claims.....
