sounds like nick has some busy days......

oh well, as far as the K&N, the consumption of more fuel is partially due to the fact that more air is now flowing into your engine and confusing the ECU. I too reset my ECU on my 99 Pro every now and then. As said before, helps keep the "bugs" out. Reset your ECU and you should be fine. Pulling the negative terminal is WAY to much work as opposed to just pulling the engine fuse. You keep all your stereo settings and all that other fun stuff.

Another vote here for "threw in a K&N drop-in with no problems."

What memories..... of my GLH, I wish I still had it as it was a AWESOME little car for it's time. I purchased my "GLH" from a car wholesaler who thought that the car was "just a stock Omni".... WHAT A DEAL......or STEAL!

Later, Speedbump.

Yes, the GLH hauls. We can only hope the Turbo MP3 runs as good as the GLH-S

There is a phone number posted on either MAZDAUSA website or the Protege Tech website. Have your VIN# and call and ask, they should have the number of your car!

Alas I dont have the Shelby anymore Sold it in Ontario, some kid probably has no clue what he has.
I put on the Mopar aftermarket head with the bigger valves and cam after I killed the first one during a cold snap here. (-38) After that I got the Stage II computer (14psi) and had my friend who worked at a Chrysler dealer wire it up. (two connectors had to be modified if I remember correctly) No intercooler so I was buying 104 octain boost by the gallon! Damn thing was fast!! Had it painted solid Sikens black, no markings.

(and I want it back)

Sounds like your ride ran good!

I have also got a stage 2 cpu, a new race head, hybrid super 70 turbo. I also bored the engine .030 over. I also have a K& N on it and a XS BOV. Replaced all the intercooler hoses with smooth ones. She runs very good. I have only got 4000 miles on it right now.

I smoked a Cobra Mustang 3 times in a row, the guy was soooo pissed, he yells "what the **** is that thing"

PS: Its for sale for the right price!

So reset my ECU!
It was without power for one night and after resetting I let it idle for 15 minutes. I also drove it around for few hours.
It still misfires! After every 3-4 sec. you can feel it. Fuel consumption is slightly higher than it used to be but tolerable.
My concern is about catalysator. If it misfires it might damage it.

out of stupidity and curiousity, how exactly and when does it misfire...... I removed my resonator a long time ago and after that, while idling, i'll here a deep airy thump noise...... that is not really back firing, just a funny noise with air pressure..... if yours is actually making a loud bang noise out the tail pipe, the who the hell knows....

Make sure your battery terminals are very shiny.

I have also noticed it takes about 2 hours to fully run correctly!

It's not actually noticable at the tailpipe but I feel it with my body when I'm sitting in the car. It's like tiny bump on the road.
I'm concerned because without K&N it doesn't do that.

well, the only thing i'd do now is take it to Mazda. Replacing your filter DOES NOT void your warranty. So tell them that you put this new one in, and it all of the sudden started to feel like it was backfiring. And don't let them tell you it's because of the K&N because that's . If no one else can come up with a better solution or thought on the problem, do that.
