Jet Performance Products has an ECU upgrade

I E-mailed Jet Performance Products about maybe doing a Protege ECU upgrade for us and recievied a reply that they already have one avalible. Basically you contact them and they send you a card to list modifications that have been performed and send it back to them along with your ECU to be reprogrammed. Cost: $399.00 part #65002.
I have attached the reply they sent me:

We do have an ecu upgrade available for your application. The ecu upgrade does require that the factory ecu be sent to us for modification. You must purchase the upgrade package before sending the ecu to us for
The modification. Suggested retail is $399.00, and the part number is 65002. The ecu upgrades are all done per the application, in other words, do all the modifications you intend on doing before you get the ecu upgraded. That way the program can be set up for the specific modifications. Hp gains would be dependant on the extent of modifications.

Sounds like a fair price I know you can purchase the Jet product from http://www.jegs.com

Has anyone done this yet? I am really interested to see what the results were

It sounds interesting. I'd just be concerned with sending them the ECU.

Any idea how long it would take to get the ECU back?

from what i've read i didn't think you could change the fuel maps or anything on the ecu b/c of its design, something about a closed loop circiut or something

Well the ecu can be reflashed. My computer is a stock protege 5 with fuel maps and advanced timing of an mp3. Thats why I run 16.4 in the quarter mile. Only Mazda dealership can do this. I am trying to get the codes to reflash our computers.

Also flying Miata is coming out with something to change the fuel curves and other stuff like the miata they sell.
