OBD-II is designed to hunt down fuel and ignition problems assuming that the engine mechanicals are all in reasonably good working order. If you throw in some sort of major *mechanical* factor that screws up the engine (such as a radically mis-timed cam), OBD-II won't be able to figure it out because that's not what it's programmed to do. Generally, it will spit out some bogus ignition or fuel-related codes that aren't related to the real problem.

OK, I appreciate all of the help so far. When I took the timing belt off the vakve springs rotated the exhaust cam a little. Unfortunately I got ahead of myself and forgot to mark both sprockets with the belt (onlt the intake side).
Anyway, I have everything apart, I am at top dead center of the crank, but there are a hundred marks on the cam sprockets and I don't know which ones to line up. That is my real problem right now, so if anyone knows how to line them up, that will solve everything. Thanks.

First what engine do you have. If it is fs it is very easy. Second are you using a manual if not I will e-mail you the part for this. Let me know I installed mone two days ago and have know problems. I used the shop manual and the probe manual. I actually had to do it 3 times because corksport sent me a second intake cam as the exhaust so I had to uninstall the second cam and put back in the stock exhaust cam. Dont play with the timing and be sure. Use manual shop prefered I found the way they tell you to put it on to be very accurate also watch the crankshaft pulley it can slip when putting on belt. I didnt tighten the belt untill I was absoulelly sure the timing was perfect. Dont play with the timing, take your time this is your engine. Hope all works well. Also I love the intake cam, I found it to act normal and just keep pulling. Havent redlined or revved it to high cause I wanyt it to seat a little more, but it just keeps pulling and doesnt feel like it runs out of breath like it used to. I think it should have came stock the whole pwer band feels very usefull. I love the cam.

thanks

I just wanted to thank everyone for their help. Carguycw actually answered the question on another thread, but everyones theories and ideas were helpful and interesting. I learn things about or engines everyday on this board. Thanks again.

Sweet

Well, I got everything squared away. I started over from scratch, which I should have done the first time. Anyway, I love it! It pulls harder all the way through the power band. The butt dyno even tells me that if I lost any torque at all it was minimal. I want to break it in for a little while so I haven't redlined, but up to about 4.5K it feels awsome.
Thanks again to EVERYONE who made suggestions and gave useful tips.
