Injen intake probs

i know we've all discussed this before but...my check engine light will come on for a while then turn off for a while , then come on again and so on and so forth. When it is on the car doesn't have to ''go power'' it does when the light is off. Now i have never disconnected the negative battery terminal because it turned off before i was going to do it so i figured it was ok. Now if i do this will it solve my problem? Has anyone else had this problem? Help me out. Thank you

Paul

Try cleaning the MAF sensor too. Use cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol. Just be careful with it. Some people have cleaned and gotten better results from the Injen (no check engine, and no hesitation).

give it a shot.....disconnect the NEGITIVE terminal...and let it set for a few hours....I have heard differing opinions as to how long it takes....but if you have the time to let it set for a few hours....go for it....after all...what is the worst that can happen? your problem won't go away. NO LOSS.......and be VERY careful cleaning the MAF....but that sounds like a good idea too. It certainly couldn't hurt....unless you damage it. look at it before you remove it....mark it if you have to.....just be sure you have it installed in the correct orientation.

well im definately not an engine wizard so i won't clean the MAF myself. I will let a friend that does that kind of stuff do that but i will try taking the negative terminal off for a while and see what happens. Thank you to both of you for you help.

also make sure you have the air temp sensor connected properly, this was my problem when i installed the AEM air intake, then i played with the temp air sensor and the check engine light went off for me

We don't have air temp sensors on the 1.6l's. Atleast mine doesn't. hehe.

It could be possible that you installed the MAF backwards when you put it back in with the injen tubing. May or may-not be the case. I know a few people who did this and their car would start to die and then would jump back to a smooth idle. Flipped the MAF around and it worked perfectly. Worth looking into....

You don't have to let the car sit for hours to discharge the computer system. All you have to do is disconnect the battery, turn the key to the on posistion, press and hold the brake pedal for five seconds, and wala (however you spell it), it's discharged.

I have been hearing noises from the car now that the intake is on. First when I hit the gas I hear a sound like air being sucked in. And when I turn off the car I hear like a long sigh from the car. Maybe the air letting out?

Its just your intake and the air going in and out. Dont worry about that

Don't worry, your engine doesn't blow. That's just the sound of air going into the engine tapering off as the crankshaft stops rotating.

My aem DOES make those sounds. Either sit in the drive way and touch the gas pedal or have someone do it for you with you out of the car....yours should do it aswell.
