Important Questions for those with a SRI or CAI

Does fuel economy suffer when you use a SRI(short ram intake) or CAI in place of the stock airbox setup?
I noticed that my fuel economy suffers a bit. Could this be because the CPU after receiving a signal or increased airflow in the MAF sensor provide more gas to the engine to restore the preprogrammed air to fuel ratio? Please help.

I personally think that if I am using more gas....its because I am driving it harder because I like hearing the mean sound of my battle wagon

ditto. Who cares about the gas mileage when you have that awesome sound under your hood

Personally I don't think it should make much of a difference with your mileage, but I could be wrong.

I think Greddy was answering your question. Its not so much the intake that drops your gas mileage, its how your driving habits change after you install it. Most people drive a little more agressively after they install aftermarket parts. This is what would cause your gas mileage to dwindle. All in all, I think the Intake (either) by themselves will show a slight increase in mileage.

I have an Injen CAI and I have checked my milage EVERY tank since I purchased the car.....my milage has NOT changed since its install. I am still getting a combined 26-27 MPG (mix of highway and in town) so I be happy

As long as you still have all the stock ECU/OBDII sensors in place, and the intake is installed properly, your mileage shouldn't change if your driving doesn't change.

Actually i have noticed a HUGE differnance in Gas Mileage.... i drove a long distance to a wedding in my mp3 and i have the AEM short ram and i used to get about 29-30 mpg on the highway and with the aem going 75-90 mph i got 34 mpg!!! thats a nice improvement... but i have noticed ive been driving my car harder so my city mileage has gone way down...

Hasn't seemed to change much for me with the MonsterFlow, except when I first put it on due to a heavy foot.
