How strong are Mazda Auto trannys?
Im just curious how strong/reliable Mazda automatic trannys are. This is the first automatic Ive owned... Ive driven rental cars with them before though.
Can they hold up to modifications? IE, a friend of mine has a Cavalier auto with a 100 wet shot and his tranny is fine even with countless high 13 second passes. I also hear theres a few other people out there with a similar setup.
Im curious because when the warranty is up eventually (I do very very high klicks on my car), I want to turn this humble auto wagon into a 13 second beast.

I have beat the tranny in my 1989 Mazda MX-6 Turbo and it finally took a dump at 130,000 miles. I changed the fliud every 20,000 miles. My 1993 MX-6 LS didn't even go 90,000 miles. I will never but another auto tranny. My 2002 P5 is a stick. The key is change the fluid frequently and add an extra oil cooler.
