Funny, I'm planning to sort of do the same thing. I friend of mine just replaced his muffler and said he didn't need the old one. So I'm having a muffler shop hack off the connection point (muffler side) and build me a straight pipe that I can swap in and out for my stock muffler (just in case the wife thinks it's too loud). But I'm guessing that I leave the straight pipe on most of the time!
