got bored last night, took a sawzall to my exhaust

so after trying (unsuccesfully) for months to sell my blingy, yet nice sounding Mazda Speed axle back I got sick of the polished fart can dangling beneath my car....so with a sawzall and some bad intentions I choped it off right as the pipe came over the rear suspension, keeping the hanger but leaving me with a perfect turn down, 20+ lbs less weight and a wicked sound. ..not obnoxiuos or ricey, but DEEP and evil...I love it. Of course there were NO performance gains as the MazdaSpeed unit is a VERY well designed flow through muffler...but the less weight will be nice when I relocate the battery to the trunk...FWIW all thats left in my exhaust (after the cats) is a resonator...
I know I know this thread is worthless with out pics...but the pic my buddy took didn't save right to the disk...I will try to snap another one today.
I like free mods...

Ok, Racing Beat - when is the resonator coming out? Wonder what she sounds like with an open header? This is getting interesting...

LOL....the pic didn't save correctly last night, my firned is "supposed" to be sending it to me this afternoon....you cant see ANYTHING form outside the car, you have to look under it...sleeper style....
if anyone wants a MazdaSpeed Muffler only, lemme know...i dont want it
I may yank the resonator this spring...i want to do some more chassis work first:
Tein S Techs
AWR front motor mount
GT Spec ladder bar and v-brace, trunk cage
OBX header
maybe cams..need to do more research though...

On the recent ECU thread, Chris from Corksport joined in. I am asking him [them] to provide actual objective test data for the "Mazdaspeed" cams they sell, and claim 10 whp from the intake side and 8 from the exhaust side (quite high numbers to throw out there without data, if you ask me). Anyhow, if we can get a response out of him, maybe we can also get other relevant details such as if it will be necessary to also swap out the valve springs for stouter ones, go to lighter retainers, maybe get actual lift/ duration numbers....

I'm right there with you, bro. You don't want to drop in something as risky as cams without knowing all of the details about what you are buying.

Awesome.
Hope it doesn't coat the underside of your car in soot, though.

its under the car, the soot can keep the dirt company..the exhaust gasses dont get anything hot the way they exit either...

I thought the Mazdaspeed muffler sounded "deep and evil"... is your cut-off even more so?

It was deep, not evil...now it pops gurgles and is WAY deeper then it was...now it can be classified as evil ...especially on the over rev and under engine braking... maybe I can get some sound clips this weekend...
