Exhaust suggestions (not the norm)

Ok....I had a 2.5" custom cat-back (resonator removed) and a Pro-1 tunable muffler on my Pro5. A couple months ago, my muffler was stolen at the mall (they took a hack saw and cut it right off). First of all, I still have the silencer...I was thinking of putting an ad in the newspaper saying that whoever stole my muffler, I still have the silencer. Just give me you name, address, and telephone number, and I'll get it right to you. OK...not really........but anyway

I have a couple options in my hands. A friend of mine had an old Mazda (323 ror Protegé I believe) on which he put an exhaust (unknown origins). But, his wife said it was too loud and made him take it off. So come news of my misfortune, he opted to give me his unused exhaust for free.

K...here's my options. Since it sounds better without the muffler I could just have a small amout of piping welded on and then just a tip, to make it look like I actually did have a muffler. Or, I could cut off the piping on the unused exhaust system and weld on the muffler. The muffler, though, looks a bit small and I'm afraid it will produce a high-pitched bumblebee sound (now it's deep and throaty). Plus, the tip on the unused muffler is rolled in so the silencer won't fit. Or, I could leave it how it is and risk being pulled over for no muffler. If I leave it be or just tip it, I could sell the exhaust system for a profit, between $30-$60 maybe.

I honestly don't know what to do. because money is extremely (ver very very extremely) tight right now, I'm leaning torwards cleaning up the unused exhaust and selling it, then getting my exhaust tipped, and use the leftover money of something else.

Suggestions please?

cut off the second cat, then get a grapefruit shooter off of ebay and put that on. it will sound about what you have it now, but with a muffler.

But with a tip and the second cat, he will still be U-LEV compliant...Plus save the money he is worried about.

If you like the sound you have now, just worry about getting the end fixed up. Forget about your silencer, it will only restrict it. I don't know about Oklahoma's sound codes, but I don't think a un-muffled FS would be any worse than most pushrod V-8's with mufflers...Around my area you won't get too much **** during inspections as long as the catalysts are in place, its more of a preference on the driver as to how much sound is being made...

Don't your rear-seat passengers burn their legs when the get out of the car?
